How Percentage is Converted to CGPA
When converting percentage to CGPA under AICTE guidelines, the inverse mathematical operation of division by 9.5 is applied:
For example, a student with 85.5% aggregate marks:
CGPA = 85.5 ÷ 9.5 = 9.00 / 10.00 (Grade A+ / Distinction)
Important Accuracy Caveat
Because university CGPA is determined by credit-weighted quality points earned on individual subjects, two students with identical total percentage marks could possess slightly different true CGPAs depending on which specific high-credit subjects they scored higher in. This converter provides the standardized statutory benchmark.
